– Awarded in the Household Goods category for its reusable packaging solution
– Recognized for both environmental and economic impact through packaging waste reduction
Korea Pool Network (KPN), a subsidiary of LOGISALL, has won the 19th Korea Excellent Patent Award for its reusable packaging solution, the "Packing Tool."
Hosted by The Hankookilbo and supported by the Korea Institute of Patent Information, the Korea Excellent Patent Award honors outstanding patented technologies that contribute to strengthening national industrial competitiveness. Co-developed by KPN and the LOGISALL Packaging Innovation Center, the Packing Tool was selected as the winner in the household goods category, earning official recognition for its technological innovation.
The Packing Tool is a reusable packaging device designed to replace single-use materials such as plastic wrap, corrugated cardboard, and netting. Operating within a pooling system—where logistics equipment is shared and reused among companies—it can be collected, washed, and reused after use. This structure allows it to reduce packaging waste while simultaneously lowering the cost of packaging material procurement, offering both environmental and economic benefits.
Its technical design is also noteworthy. Made from plastic corrugated board, the Packing Tool features an open top for easy loading and a forklift-compatible bottom for efficient transport. It also incorporates a foldable structure, minimizing storage space when not in use, enhancing practicality in real-world logistics settings.
Furthermore, damaged Packing Tools can be collected, crushed, and repurposed into recycled raw materials, eliminating the need for separate disposal processes. This makes it a truly sustainable logistics solution.
A KPN representative stated, “The Packing Tool is a practical alternative that addresses the environmental impact and social costs of disposable packaging. Going forward, we aim to expand mass production and market reach to spread a culture of sustainable packaging and fulfill our vision of shared growth and coexistence.”
